Adeboye Samuel Adeyeye, popularly known on X as Swanky001, has been given the option of paying a N1 million fine after a Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced him to two years imprisonment for cyberbullying, cyber-threats and online harassment against singer Adekunle Gold and his family.
The social media user was found guilty on three counts linked to false and harmful posts he made online about the singer, his wife Simi and their daughter. One of the posts falsely claimed that the couple’s daughter had died, a statement that quickly went viral and sparked outrage on social media.
According to court documents, the harassment reportedly continued for months before his eventual arrest in March 2026. Prosecutors said he ignored repeated warnings from users to delete the false posts and allegedly kept them online as engagement increased.
The court sentenced him to two years imprisonment on two counts and one year on another count, with the jail terms to run concurrently. However, the judge also granted him the option of a N1 million fine and ordered him to stop making defamatory or harmful posts against the complainants.
