Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) were present at the polling unit of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, during the ongoing governorship election in the state.

The officials reportedly arrived at Polling Unit 003, Ward 06, Ikogosi, in Ekiti West Local Government Area at about 9:08 a.m. on Saturday. Around 10 EFCC operatives were seen at the location while voting was ongoing.

Although no official explanation was given for their presence, it was gathered that the operatives may have been deployed to monitor and curb possible cases of vote buying during the election.

They were observed supervising activities at the polling unit where voting had started earlier at about 8:30 a.m. across various locations in the state.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji, who is contesting for re-election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), is among the major candidates in the election.
