Gunmen invaded Government Secondary School, Olowa, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State on Tuesday, abducting the school principal, four students and a National Examinations Council (NECO) ad hoc official during the ongoing NECO examination.

The attack reportedly happened at about 5:25 p.m. while candidates were writing their exams. The assailants stormed the school, seized the victims and escaped to an unknown location.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed that security personnel immediately launched a search-and-rescue operation after the incident.

One of the abducted students has since been rescued, while efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining victims.

Security operatives have also intensified bush-combing operations, surveillance and intelligence gathering across the area to locate the kidnappers’ hideout, rescue those still in captivity and apprehend the perpetrators.
