Nollywood actress Annie Macaulay has addressed the backlash she received after congratulating celebrity stylist Luminee on the birth of her baby.
The actress said she had no knowledge of the controversy surrounding Luminee’s personal life and was shocked by the wave of criticism that followed her simple congratulatory message.
According to Annie, Luminee had designed a dress for her a few months ago, and after seeing a post announcing the arrival of the stylist’s child, she reacted with a heart emoji to celebrate the good news.
However, the gesture quickly drew criticism from social media users, prompting Annie to ask why she was being attacked.
“what’s going on guys… saw her post on my TL about just having a baby n dropped a heart as congrats! I’m I missing something? What did I do wrong ? Cos I’m genuinely lost o … why d plenty insults guys ? I honestly do not know anything at all about her personal life, beyond d fact that she made d pretty dress I wore to affirma 😔 Pls can someone enlighten me ? Cos I truly do not know or have any idea what’s up!” she wrote.
She further clarified that her relationship with Luminee was strictly professional.
“the lady made a nice dress for me few months ago, I honestly do not know what’s going on,” Annie added.
The criticism against Luminee intensified after news emerged that she welcomed a child with Yoruba actor Baba Ijesha, who was previously convicted in a sexual offence case. Annie’s congratulatory message was therefore interpreted by some social media users as an endorsement of the relationship, a claim the actress has now firmly distanced herself from.
