Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has identified Mr. John Olaleye as the second teacher killed by kidnappers during the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.
The revelation followed the handover of the rescued victims to the Oyo State Government. Speaking after the rescue, the school principal, Mr. Alamu, disclosed that Olaleye was murdered on the first Sunday of June 2026 while the victims were still being held captive.
According to the principal, the abductors allegedly killed the teacher after their demands were not met. He added that the surviving pupils and teachers witnessed the incident.
With the latest confirmation, two teachers are now known to have lost their lives during the abduction. Mr. Michael Oyedokun had earlier been confirmed dead after he was allegedly beheaded by the kidnappers.
The rescued victims are currently receiving medical treatment, psychological support, and other assistance from the Oyo State Government.
