Davido has opened up about his admiration for football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, revealing that he considers himself a devoted CR7 supporter and claiming that the pair communicate regularly.
The Afrobeats star made the remarks during a livestream with content creator Carter Efe while discussing the recently concluded 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Davido, he was rooting for Portugal throughout the tournament because he has personal relationships with several members of the national team.
“Because I have a lot of friends in the Portuguese team. I want Portugal to win,” he said.
When Carter Efe suggested that his support was mainly because of Ronaldo, Davido agreed without hesitation.
“I love Ronaldo, I’m a CR7 fan,” he said.
The singer then surprised viewers by claiming that he and the five-time Ballon d’Or winner speak frequently, saying in Pidgin English that he talks to the football legend “back to back.”
Davido’s revelation left Carter Efe visibly excited, with the content creator repeatedly shouting:
“God, I don mad! I don mad! I don mad! I don mad!”
