Basirat Damilola Marshall, daughter of Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has announced her candidacy for the 2027 Lagos State House of Assembly election, aiming to represent Surulere Constituency II.
Currently serving as Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Marshall said her decision to enter the race is fueled by a desire to ensure young people’s voices are heard in governance.
Sharing a campaign flier on social media, she declared: “The universe favours only the brave — it’s youth o’clock.”
A practicing lawyer for over 12 years, Marshall expressed confidence that her legal and professional experience equips her to deliver effective representation. “I am excited to share that I, Barrister Damilola Ayinde Marshall, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” she stated.
Describing herself as “a woman of excellence and results,” she added: “I am ready to serve and lead. My years of practice have shaped my understanding of governance, justice, and the real needs of my people.”
Marshall also promised to focus on youth empowerment, saying: “I will be the voice of the youths in the House. As a young woman, I understand the challenges we face, and I am committed to addressing them.”
She further emphasized her connection with younger constituents: “I listen to the youths because I am one of you. I know what we truly need, and that is why I am stepping forward to serve.”
