Two-term lawmaker Leke Abejide has confirmed his exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), signaling a shift in his political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing reporters, Abejide disclosed that he is in the process of joining what he described as a “mainstream political party,” adding that details of his new platform would be made public after he secures the necessary ticket.

“I am moving to the mainstream political party,” he said, noting that the move feels like “a homecoming.”

Although he did not explicitly name the party, there are strong indications he may be heading to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The lawmaker also took aim at opposition groups, alleging that they contribute to the insecurity and challenges facing the country—remarks that could spark fresh political debate.

His defection comes amid a broader wave of political repositioning, as key figures continue to realign in preparation for the 2027 elections.
