Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has criticised the tendency of some men to label women as “gold diggers,” saying men should be willing to provide for their partners instead of complaining about financial expectations.

Speaking in a recent interview, the actress argued that a caring man should naturally ensure his woman is well taken care of, from her appearance to her general wellbeing, without waiting to be asked.

She added that women should not be criticised for wanting financially stable partners, insisting that men who cannot meet such expectations should either delay dating or pursue relationships within their financial means.

Bukky Wright also maintained that she would never encourage any woman to settle for less than she deserves.

She said:

“She doesn’t even need to ask you. It is your responsibility as a man to know that your woman needs to wear good clothes and look good. She should be your pride.

“I hate it when I hear men calling women gold diggers. What do you expect her to dig—shit? No. I wouldn’t advise any woman to take anything less than gold.

“If you cannot afford it, then don’t date. Or date according to your level.”
