President Bola Tinubu shared a lighthearted moment with guests at the Presidential Press Corps Dinner after jokingly referring to his wife, First Lady Remi Tinubu, as “Iya Alakara.”
The playful remark came while the President was acknowledging dignitaries in attendance at the event held at the State House.
Addressing the gathering, Tinubu said:
“Good evening, Gentlemen of the press, My dear wife, First Lady, Iya Alakara.”
His comment appeared to reference the recent public reactions to the First Lady’s remarks suggesting that Nigerians could use grants to start small businesses such as akara, roasted corn and kuli-kuli.
The joke drew laughter from those present and quickly generated reactions on social media, with many describing it as a humorous exchange between the President and the First Lady.
