Nigerian-British singer and songwriter Talay Riley, born Mark Orabiyi, has died at the age of 35 after a fatal stabbing in east London.
Emergency responders were dispatched to Rayleigh Road in Silvertown on Friday morning following reports of an attack. When officers arrived, they found Riley in a garden with serious stab wounds. Despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family paid tribute to the late musician, describing him as a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose kindness, talent, and generosity touched countless lives.
“His memory will remain in our hearts forever,” the family said.
During the investigation, three people were arrested on suspicion of murder but were later released.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke described the killing as a tragic incident and said detectives are continuing to follow several lines of inquiry. She appealed to anyone who witnessed the attack or possesses CCTV or video footage from the area to come forward and assist investigators.
Police confirmed that inquiries into the circumstances surrounding Riley’s death are ongoing.
