Prophet Apata Enoch, who describes himself as a pastor, has generated widespread reactions online after making a controversial remark urging people not to marry someone they consider unattractive while celebrating his wife.
While he did not mention the name of his church in the Facebook post, his previous social media updates show that he regularly ministers to a congregation and often speaks about his ministry.
In the post shared on Monday, Enoch paid tribute to his wife ahead of her 50th birthday, praising her beauty and expressing his affection for her.
He wrote, “5th of August, this my baby will be 50 years on earth, many years, my sweetheart.
“I’m 54, my sweetheart 50. Don’t marry an ugly person because of old age. Open your heart and eyes.”
Enoch also recounted that he had once intended to marry another woman but said God warned him against it.
He added, “The woman I wanted to marry before, God told me I wouldn’t like her in her old age.
“Today, she looks like someone I can’t take pictures with. I bless God. I hear from this merciful God who knows I like a fine and beautiful wife.”
