Cultural and age-grade groups turned out in grand style at the Ojude Oba festival in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, on Friday, putting on a vibrant display of tradition, fashion, and cultural pride.
Videos shared on Instagram by EwesoOnline showed participants dressed in coordinated, richly embroidered traditional attire that reflected the elegance and heritage of the Ijebu people.
Festival-goers arrived in flowing agbadas, gele headwraps, and detailed beaded accessories, creating a colourful atmosphere that highlighted the depth of Yoruba culture and identity.
The annual celebration, held on the third day after Eid-el-Kabir, continues to attract large crowds, including top politicians, celebrities, and members of the Nigerian diaspora, all gathered to honour Ijebu traditions.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command deployed over 2,500 officers to provide security across the festival grounds.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the deployment includes personnel from the Police Mobile Force, SWAT, Violent Crime Response Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Monitoring Unit, Force Intelligence Department, and other specialised tactical teams to ensure safety and order throughout the event.
