During a church service, Pastor David Ibiyeomie addressed members of his congregation on what he described as unacceptable behaviour during worship, stressing the need for discipline and full attention in church.
He warned against chewing gum inside the auditorium, saying members should show proper respect while in service.
“Don’t chew gum when you’re in church, you’re not a goat. Don’t drink water in church. If you want to drink water, go outside. Don’t use phone at all in church. This is not a Pentecostal church, only Pentecostal churches allow water inside church,” he said.
The cleric also cautioned against the use of mobile phones during services, insisting that distractions should be avoided completely in order to maintain focus during worship.
Pastor Ibiyeomie, who leads Salvation Ministries in Port Harcourt, has consistently spoken on maintaining order and discipline in church, often reminding worshippers that the sanctuary should be treated with seriousness and reverence.
