Actor and reality TV personality Pere Egbi has opened up about an emotional conversation he once had with Nollywood star Alexx Ekubo, a chat that has now taken on a heartbreaking meaning following reports of Ekubo’s death.
Sharing screenshots of their old messages, Pere revealed that he had reached out to Alexx months ago out of concern for his wellbeing.
“Brother, I’m checking in on you. I hope you’re doing okay,” Pere had written.
Alexx responded warmly:
“Hello bro I’m good good How are you & yours?”
Pere replied by expressing happiness that he was doing fine while also encouraging them to stay connected.
“Awesome. Glad to hear you good bro. Omo I Dey o. I Dey Yankee Dey hustle. The hustle goes on. Happy to hear from you fam. Gotta check up on each other always. Life is short.”
Alexx appreciated the gesture, replying:
“Thank you brother I appreciate you checking in”
Pere then offered a heartfelt prayer for him:
“May the God guide & protect you in all you do”
Alexx responded with prayers of his own:
“Amen o my bro. And may He guide and protect you too brother.”
Reacting after the news of Ekubo’s reported passing surfaced online, Pere shared an emotional tribute, saying the conversation now means far more to him.
“Jesus!!!!! Jesus… this one hurts. I had the nudge to reach out to you months ago, just to check on you and pray for you. You didn’t say much… but now that moment means even more to me.
“Life is short. Please check on people while you still can. Rest well, my brother Alex. May God guide you home.”
