President Bola Tinubu has directed that all his salaries since assuming office be contributed to a newly established fund supporting Nigeria’s Armed Forces, injured service members, and the families of fallen soldiers.

The president made the announcement on Sunday during his 74th birthday celebrations, describing the initiative as a way to honour the courage and sacrifice of the nation’s military personnel.

Under the plan, the Accountant-General of the Federation will create a dedicated account to provide targeted assistance to wounded soldiers, as well as widows, widowers, and children of those who lost their lives in service.

President Tinubu called on state governors, lawmakers, the private sector, friends, and well-wishers to contribute to the fund, noting that details of the scheme will be shared in due course.

He emphasized that supporting the Armed Forces and their families is a solemn national responsibility, not charity, and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that military personnel are treated with dignity, care, and sustained support.
