Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, has been buried in Abuja after passing away in Cairo, Egypt.

She died on Friday following a brief illness while receiving medical care in the Egyptian capital. Her remains were transported to Abuja on Sunday for burial according to Islamic rites.

The Janazah (funeral) prayers were held at the National Mosque in Abuja, after which she was laid to rest at Gudu Cemetery.

The funeral was attended by a mix of political leaders, including serving and former officials, as well as opposition figures. Among those present were former Sokoto State governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
