Nigerian music sensation Rema is set to take center stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in the United States alongside some of the biggest names in global entertainment.
The Afrobeats star will perform at the Los Angeles celebration with an international lineup that includes Tyla, Future, Katy Perry, Anitta and LISA.
FIFA made the announcement in a statement released on Saturday, revealing plans for a historic multi-city opening celebration across the three host nations of the tournament.
According to FIFA, the 2026 World Cup will begin with three separate ceremonies. Mexico City will host the first event on June 11, while Toronto and Los Angeles will stage their own celebrations on June 12.
The football body said the ceremonies are designed to unite music, culture and football fans in what promises to be one of the biggest sporting celebrations ever hosted in North America.
“For the first time in FIFA World Cup history, a new benchmark will be set as three spectacular opening ceremonies unfold across Mexico City (11 June), Toronto and Los Angeles (12 June), as Canada, Mexico and the United States come together to launch the greatest show on earth.”
“Global superstars Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema and Tyla will headline the celebrations in Los Angeles, with additional world-renowned artists still to be announced.”
