Roby Ekpo has fired back at the defamation suit filed by his estranged wife, Mayowa Lambe, issuing a detailed response through his lawyer in which he denied all allegations against him.
In the letter shared on his page, his legal representative confirmed receiving Lambe’s complaint accusing him of malicious defamation, false narratives, and reputational damage. However, the claims were strongly rejected, with Ekpo insisting they are inaccurate and will be contested.
He maintained that any statements he made, whether privately or publicly, were based on his personal experiences and what he believes to be true, stressing that he never acted with malice or with the intention of harming Lambe’s reputation.
The response further described their situation as a complex personal relationship, arguing that the issues cannot be selectively presented to create a one-sided narrative against him.
Ekpo also stated that he has documentary and testimonial evidence, including records of communication and interactions, which contradict several of the claims made by Lambe. He said the materials would be presented at the appropriate time.
His lawyer dismissed the ₦100 million damages demand as excessive, unfounded, and premature, while also criticising the two-day ultimatum given to him as unreasonable.
The letter made it clear that Ekpo will not comply with the demands and is ready to face the matter in court. It added that he may file counterclaims, including allegations of harassment, intimidation, and reputational harm linked to what he described as false or exaggerated accusations.
Ekpo also indicated that parts of Lambe’s claims could be used as evidence in his favour, including in petitions to United States authorities.
He concluded by directing that all further communication should go through legal representatives, stating that while he remains open to proper legal resolution, he will not be pressured into making concessions under threat.
