Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has appealed to women to stop making sweeping generalisations about men, saying it is unfair to label the entire gender as “scûuum” because of the actions of a few individuals.
The actress shared her opinion in a post on her social media page amid the continued use of the viral phrase “men are scûuum,” which is often used by women to express frustration over negative relationship experiences, including heartbreak, infidelity and betrayal.
According to Sarah, women should direct such remarks at the specific men who wronged them instead of condemning all men.
She wrote:
“Which one be men are scûuum??
Dear Queens, pls normalize “NOT” generating the word “scûuum”.
Kindly tag your own man and call him scûuum biko.
For example “Mr Ifeanyichukwu Okoye” is a scûuum…. U get the point now???
No put me for talk abeg
Anyways good night.”
Her comments come just days after she shared an experience in which she claimed she was insulted by a man after offering his wife a ride during flooding in Lagos. At the time, Sarah advised women to be careful when choosing a life partner, saying it is better to remain single than marry the wrong person.
