The Senegalese Football Federation has officially taken the controversial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, challenging CAF’s decision to award the title to Morocco.

Filed on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the appeal requests that CAS overturn the ruling and reinstate Senegal as the rightful winners. In its submission, the FSF urged the court “to set aside the CAF decision and declare the FSF winners of AFCON,” escalating tensions surrounding one of the most debated outcomes in recent African football history.

CAF’s original decision to strip Senegal of the championship and hand it to Morocco sparked widespread criticism, raising concerns over transparency and fairness in continental football competitions.

CAS is now expected to review the evidence and arguments from both parties before delivering a final and binding judgment. The outcome could have far-reaching consequences for African football governance and the integrity of its tournaments.
