Former Kaduna Central senator Shehu Sani has announced his bid to return to the National Assembly in the 2027 general elections.
He confirmed the move on his verified X account, revealing that he has obtained the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest for the Kaduna Central senatorial seat.
Sani previously served as senator between 2015 and 2019 before losing his re-election bid following political tensions within Kaduna State’s ruling circle.
His fallout with then-governor Nasir El-Rufai was largely linked to disagreements over key government policies, including urban renewal projects, the mass dismissal of teachers, and concerns about the state’s debt burden.
The disagreement escalated after Sani, while chairing the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, opposed a $350 million World Bank loan requested by the Kaduna State Government.
He is now seeking a return to the Senate under the APC platform in 2027.
