Chukwuma Soludo has put forward Mrs Esther Chinyere Onyekesi for appointment as Commissioner for Women Affairs, drawing attention due to her personal tragedy.
Mrs Onyekesi is the mother of late businessman Martin Onyekesi, popularly called “Fish Magnet,” who was abducted and killed by kidnappers last year. His body was later found in Awka before any ransom could be secured, an incident that shocked many residents and triggered public outrage.
The killing led to protests across the state, including demonstrations led by activist VeryDarkMan.
At the time, some political actors attempted to attach political motives to the incident, but Mrs Onyekesi, who served as the Women Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Anambra, dismissed such claims and insisted it was purely a criminal act.
Her name now appears among commissioner nominees submitted to the Anambra State House of Assembly, where she will face the screening process alongside others.
