Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed confidence in the country’s future, saying ongoing infrastructure projects and government investments will eventually bring long-term benefits to citizens.

Speaking in a viral video, she acknowledged public concerns about the rising cost of air travel, but noted that expensive flight fares are not limited to Nigeria alone.

According to her, air transportation costs have increased globally, including in countries like the United States, adding that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is focusing on expanding alternative transport systems such as rail and coastal routes.

Mrs Tinubu said the federal government is actively working to strengthen Nigeria’s transport infrastructure through continued investment in rail networks and other development projects.

“Nigeria is such a great country and now you can see airports emerging, so I know you will say, ‘Oh, the flights are so expensive,’” she said.

“Everywhere in the world, even in America, flights are expensive. And that’s why Mr President is doing the coastal routes, not only coastal routes, even trying to have rail lines.”

She further noted that while some rail projects were initiated by previous administrations, the current government is continuing and expanding them.

“And so I know the previous administration started the rail line and, you know, we continue. We continue building,” she stated.

The First Lady expressed optimism that ongoing infrastructure development would yield positive results in the near future, saying Nigeria has a promising outlook.

“Nigeria has a huge future ahead of it and by the grace of God, very soon we all will be beneficiaries of the success of what Nigeria will become,” she added.
