Popular Twitter personality, Samuel Ademoye Adeyeye, widely known as Swanky, has been sentenced to two years in prison for spreading false information about singer Adekunle Gold’s daughter, Deja.

The social media user had stirred outrage online after falsely claiming that the six-year-old daughter of Adekunle Gold and Simi had died from a rare illness known as Canavan disease.

In the viral post, he wrote that the child had passed away at a young age and prayed for her soul to rest in peace, despite the report being completely fabricated.

The incident later led to legal action against him, and he was arraigned in court over the false publication. During proceedings, Swanky reportedly admitted to the offence and pleaded guilty to disseminating the misleading information.

Following his confession, the court convicted him and handed down a two-year jail sentence.

The controversial Twitter user has also been linked to several other defamatory claims involving Nigerian celebrities. Among the allegations he previously circulated online were claims that Ayra Starr and her mother were involved in pornography, that Don Jazzy fathered Tiwa Savage’s son, that Davido’s father, Adedeji Adeleke, faced deportation over fraud allegations, and that Olamide had a romantic relationship with Lyta.

He also made damaging remarks about actress Bimbo Ademoye, alleging she lost pregnancies due to multiple abortions.
