Afrobeats star Davido has appealed directly to United States President Donald Trump to pay attention to the upcoming Osun State governorship election, where his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is seeking re-election.

With the election approaching, Davido expressed concern over the political tension in the state and warned of the possibility of violence, intimidation and disruption of the electoral process. His appeal comes as the August 15 poll draws closer.

The singer called on the US government and the international community to closely monitor developments surrounding the election and encourage Nigerian authorities to protect voters and ensure that their votes are respected.

Davido stressed that he was not calling for conflict, but rather a peaceful and transparent election in which residents of Osun can exercise their constitutional rights without fear.

In his message to Trump, he wrote:

“A CALL FOR ATTENTION TO PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP

President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election.

There are growing concerns about tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation, or disruption of the democratic process. Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear.

I appeal to the United States and the international community to pay close attention to the election and encourage all relevant authorities to ensure that every voter is protected and every vote is respected.

We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election. @realDonaldTrump”
