Afrobeats star Davido says his appeal for international attention to the upcoming Osun State governorship election has received a response from the United States.
The singer had earlier called on US President Donald Trump to pay attention to the situation in Osun, expressing concerns over possible violence, intimidation and actions that could undermine the electoral process ahead of the August 15 election.
Hours after making the appeal, Davido returned to X and announced that he had been contacted, although he did not reveal the identity of the officials involved or disclose what was discussed.
He appeared excited by the development, writing:
“Dem don reach out ooooo. DEY PLAY! U think the rest of the world is undemocratic like Una! Una go see something.”
