Apostle Joshua Aghasedo, pastor of Powerline Church in Oklahoma City, has said the use of sex toys within marriage should not automatically be regarded as sinful.
The cleric made the remark while addressing his congregation on whether sex toys are permissible, comparing their use to modern tools and technology that can make certain tasks easier.
Aghasedo acknowledged that he has never personally used a sex toy but described such devices as equipment that could assist married couples with intimacy.
“I have never used a sex toy. Let me just say. But in this modern day of technology, it’s an equipment. It can help you do the job to 90%, and you finish the remaining 10%. I’m just being real. It can help you,” he said.
He further revealed that he had previously recommended a sex toy to a married couple after considering their circumstances, saying his intention was to help them within their relationship.
“I have suggested sex toy to a couple before, when I look at all the surrounding circumstances, so that somebody is not going out and all those things. I’m not joking. It’s an equipment to help, to help the process,” Aghasedo stated.
The pastor, however, stressed that his comments were strictly about married couples and did not extend to sexual activity outside marriage.
“Sex toy is only for married couple. We are talking within the framework of marriage, right? Not outside. It’s for married couples,” he said.
Aghasedo also distinguished between using such a device with a spouse and using it alone, saying he considers the latter to fall under masturbation.
“Now, if you engage it on your own, it’s called masturbation, and another word for masturbation is fornication. You get it? If you don’t get it, forget about it. It’s within the marital context. Alright?” he added.
