Social media activist VeryDarkMan has addressed concerns over the balance in his NGO account, explaining why only ₦7 million remains and maintaining that the organisation has handled its finances with full transparency.
Responding to critics, VeryDarkMan said the scrutiny had given him the chance to clarify how the NGO’s funds have been used. According to him, the low balance is linked to the ongoing construction of a school in Port Harcourt.
He explained that the project was originally meant to be financed by Burna Boy, but he decided to use the NGO’s funds first while ensuring that every expense is properly documented. He added that Burna Boy will reimburse the money after the project is completed.
“A lot of people have been criticizing me, saying that only ₦7 million is left in the NGO account.
I’ve seen many people dragging me over this.
First of all, this shows that I have integrity and that the NGO is transparent.
It also proves that, when it comes to integrity in Nigeria, I am second to none. Nobody has ever done this, and nobody will do it tomorrow.
The NGO has only ₦7 million remaining because we are building a school in Port Harcourt, a project that was supposed to be funded by Burna Boy.
But I told him to wait. Since we are using the NGO’s funds to carry out the Port Harcourt project, we are documenting every expense.
Once the project is completed, we will ask Burna Boy for a refund.”
“Today I want to take out time today to give you guys the update of the funds inside the NGO account and also use this opportunity to tell you people to donate more money cos the funds have gone down”
