VeryDarkMan (Martins Vincent Otse) has reacted after an EFCC petition surfaced online seeking an investigation into his financial activities and those of his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, following his recent protests against banditry and criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The activist released the letter himself, insisting the move is not about accountability but an attempt to clamp down on his voice and discourage public criticism of the government.
The petition, titled “Petition for the Investigation of the Suspicious Financial Activities and Possible National Security Implications Arising from the Operations of Mr. Deji Adeyanju and Mr. Martins Vincent Otse (Alias VeryDarkMan),” called for a probe into their funding sources, sponsorships, and financial dealings.
It alleged that their sustained public campaigns, including protests, legal advocacy, and media engagements, suggest significant funding that should be properly scrutinized. It further raised concerns about possible undisclosed sponsors, including foreign interests, and urged the EFCC to investigate whether any financial misconduct, money laundering, or unlawful enrichment is involved.
Reacting to the development, VeryDarkMan dismissed the petition as politically driven, linking it to his outspoken criticism of government failures and insecurity in the country.
He alleged that the petition was orchestrated by individuals aligned with the ruling political structure, claiming it was designed to frame him and his legal representative as being secretly sponsored to destabilize the government.
In a strongly worded post, he wrote:
“THEY WANT TO STOP US FROM SPEAKING AGAINST THIS EVIL GOVERNMENT THAT HAVE FAILED TO PROTECT THE LIVES OF NIGERIANS, SO THEY USED THEIR PEOPLE TO WRITE PETITIONS)
They say APC wrote a petition to efcc to investigate myself and @adeyanjudeji according to the petition they are claiming we are fighting against bad governance and therefore we are being sponsored so they need to investigate US, they claim our protest is so organized and well organic, they are surprised by the turnout of Nigerians that wants change, SO FOR THAT REASON APC member who is also a lawyer wrote a petition……. in a nutshell they want to claim we are sponsoring terrorism in other to disrupt APC GOVERNMENT
The apc lawyer is called BLESSING AGBOMHERE FROM EDO STATE, my local government area ETSAKO…….

He maintained that the petition was an attempt to silence dissenting voices and weaken ongoing protests against insecurity and governance issues in Nigeria.
The EFCC has not yet issued an official statement confirming any investigation or action regarding the petition.
