The House of Representatives has shelved its own proposed constitutional amendment on state police and adopted a similar bill submitted by the Executive for consideration.
The decision was taken during Tuesday’s plenary after lawmakers gave the Executive-sponsored state police bill its first and second readings.
The bill has now been referred to the House Committee on Constitutional Review for further legislative work.
By adopting the Executive’s proposal, the House has effectively suspended its earlier bill and shifted attention to the new amendment.
The committee is expected to examine the bill’s provisions in detail before returning it to the House for debate and possible passage.
