A Nigerian soldier serving at the Army Aviation Hangar in Minna, Niger State, has reportedly been taken into custody after allegedly soliciting financial assistance during a TikTok live broadcast while dressed in his military uniform.
According to reports, the soldier appeared on a live session hosted by popular content creator King Pedro, where he spoke about his condition and appealed for monetary support.
During the conversation, King Pedro asked the soldier about his military career. The soldier said he had spent five years in the Nigerian Army and was currently deployed in Niger State.
When asked whether he had eaten, the soldier replied:
“Yes sir, I have not eaten.”
King Pedro declined to send him money and instead criticised his decision to seek public donations while wearing his military uniform. He warned that using the uniform in such a manner could attract disciplinary action.
A military source later disclosed that the livestream was reported to the appropriate authorities, who subsequently ordered the soldier’s arrest. According to the source, the Army considered his appearance in uniform while requesting financial assistance on social media a breach of military discipline.
