Nollywood actress Kemi Afolabi has opened up about the strength and support her daughter, Dara, gave her during a difficult battle with lupus as the teenager celebrated her 16th birthday.
Marking the special occasion on Instagram, the actress shared a touching video of the two of them at the hospital and reflected on the health challenges they have faced this year.
Kemi revealed that a severe lupus flare-up resulted in several surgeries, but said Dara never left her side and remained a constant source of strength throughout the ordeal.
“Year 2026 has been tough for us. Lupus flare came on so strong, leading to multiple surgeries, but Dara was stronger! You grew on me, baby. It’s been you during sad and happy moments. You’re an amazing child. I celebrate you not just today but every day,” she wrote.
