Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a cleric with the Church of Christ in Nations, has recounted a dramatic chapter from his past, admitting to participation in a 1980 bank robbery in Jos, Plateau State.
In a recent interview with foreign media, he revealed that he was part of a gang that carried out the heist, which was led by a close friend, and made off with a substantial sum of money.
Recalling the moment that changed his life, Rev. Dachomo described a spiritual encounter he experienced. “He came to my room while I was sleeping. I didn’t know that I was operating with 14 demons until Jesus encountered me. That night there was war. He came with seven angels. I was just an observer, seeing the drama that was happening in my life. Jesus ordered the seven angels to strike the enemy. In fact, they were killed instantly. I covered myself as if I was dead, but Jesus said there was somebody we had not killed. I had to stand up and beg for forgiveness. I promised, ‘I will never do that again.’”
He acknowledged the robbery openly, saying, “It was our gang that robbed a bank in Jos in 1980. They made away with a lot of money, and it was my best friend who led the operation.”
Rev. Dachomo said the encounter with God marked a turning point in his life, breaking the hold of past habits and addictions. “The day I encountered Jesus, I went outside and tried to smoke a cigarette, but the power of smoking was broken in my life. God really helped me.”
He credits the experience with setting him on a path away from crime and toward his calling in ministry.
