The Ogun State Executive Council has renamed the Sagamu–Iperu–Sapade Expressway as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Expressway in honour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun announced the change during President Tinubu’s visit to the state for the commissioning of the Gateway International Airport and other key projects last Saturday.

The council also renamed the former Aviation Village in Iperu after the late Oba Adeleke Idowu Basibo, Alaperu of Iperu-Remo, in recognition of his service and contributions to the community.

In a bid to improve infrastructure, the council approved the acquisition of 50 electricity transformers under the ‘Light Up Ogun Project’ to boost power supply across the state. Additionally, 20 Suzuki Grand Vitara and 12 Toyota Fortuner vehicles were approved to support the operations of public officials.

Decisions on traditional leadership were also finalised. The Olu of Odeda stool in Odeda Local Government Area was officially declared, while Prince Adeyemi Ibikunle Opeaye was appointed Oludotun of Idotun in Ikenne, Chief Yaya Oriyomi as Olu of Mowe, and Bashorun Peter Oluwole Ogunbayo as Odemo of Ishara.

The council’s approvals reflect Ogun State’s focus on infrastructure development, strengthening local governance, and promoting community leadership.
