President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Paris, France, for the second leg of his three-week annual leave in Europe, according to officials close to the President.
Tinubu was received upon arrival by Nigeria’s Ambassador to France, Ayodele Oke, with visuals of the President’s arrival made available to The PUNCH.
The President departed Abuja on Sunday, August 30, 2026, for his three-week vacation, with London serving as his first destination before he proceeded to Paris for the second phase of his holiday.
A statement issued at the time by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, titled ‘President Tinubu Begins Three-Week Leave,’ said Tinubu was expected to return to Abuja after the vacation to participate in preparations for the January 2027 general election.
His departure came about a week after the All Progressives Congress released its Presidential Campaign Council list, which named Tinubu as chairman and Vice President Kashim Shettima as vice chairman.
Paris has remained one of Tinubu’s most frequently visited international destinations since he assumed office in May 2023.
According to a tally of the President’s foreign engagements by The PUNCH, Tinubu has visited Paris at least 13 times since becoming President, spending more than 50 days there across official, working and private visits.
The newspaper’s record of his international travels also shows that Tinubu has spent more than 270 days outside Nigeria, visiting at least 30 countries across 51 unique and recurring trips.
During these foreign trips, the President has reportedly covered approximately 260,000 nautical miles and accumulated more than 400 flight hours.
Tinubu’s stay in Paris forms part of his ongoing three-week European vacation, after which he is expected to return to Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general election campaign.
