Nigerian singer Niniola Apata has released an emotional new single, “Raining (O Dun Mi),” dedicated to the memory of her late husband, Michael Ndika.
The song, which was released on Wednesday and lasts for more than three minutes, is Niniola’s first musical release since Ndika’s death. He was not only her husband but also played a management role in her music career.
Sharing news of the release on Instagram, Niniola said she used the song to express emotions that were difficult to communicate verbally.
“Some feelings are too deep for words. So I put them in a song. Some songs are made to entertain,” she wrote.
The singer explained that the track was inspired by the profound impact Ndika had on her life, describing him as both her life partner and an important figure in her career.
She also dedicated the song to others who have experienced the loss of loved ones, highlighting the memories, absence and enduring affection that remain after death.
“Through music, I honour his memory,” Niniola added.
