Emerging Afrobeats act Marvin Ukanigbe, known professionally as Mavo, has reportedly fallen victim to street harassment in Lagos after declining to give money to a group of hoodlums.

The singer took to Snapchat on Tuesday to share a video showing several young men, widely referred to as “area boys,” clustering around his car in the Island part of the state. One of them was captured angrily throwing a stone at the vehicle.

The incident was said to have started when the group approached him for money, and tensions rose after he refused their demand.

In the clip, the men appeared aggressive as the car slowly navigated the area, with shouting and stone-throwing heard in the background.

The development has stirred reactions online, with many expressing worry over the persistent issue of street extortion across Lagos.

In a later post on Snapchat, Mavo suggested that some of the individuals involved might have been apprehended, though this has yet to be independently confirmed.
