Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has officially entered the 2027 governorship race in Bauchi State after obtaining the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form priced at N50 million.

Footage shared on Wednesday by Imran Mohammed, media aide to APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, showed Tuggar completing the required paperwork and receiving the form from party representatives.

Tuggar had earlier signaled his intention to run, maintaining that his participation would encourage healthy rivalry within the APC rather than deepen divisions.

“This is not just my ambition; it is a collective mission to move Bauchi State forward.”

He resigned from his ministerial position in March 2026 in compliance with a directive from President Bola Tinubu mandating appointees seeking elective office to step down.

The diplomat-turned-politician stressed that party unity remains a priority, promising to support whoever emerges as the APC flagbearer and ruling out any form of legal battle with other aspirants.

He explained that his decision to contest is driven by the need to confront key challenges facing Bauchi State, including poverty, joblessness, insecurity, and deficiencies in education and healthcare.
