Tension is rising within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Federal Capital Territory following allegations against Senator Ireti Kingibe Council (AMAC) chairman, Omale Sule, claimed on Friday that Kingibe received a substantial sum of money from the ADC national leadership ahead of the last local council elections.

According to him, party members in AMAC were neither informed of the funds nor did they benefit from them.

“We heard that N100 million was given to Senator Ireti Kingibe from ADC National just before the FCT local government election, but we never saw anything from her,” Sule said while speaking to journalists in Abuja.

Sule expressed frustration over what he described as a lack of coordination between the senator and the party’s grassroots structure. He said party leaders have struggled to work with Kingibe since she took office and noted that she rarely attends meetings organized by local party officials.

“The worst of all is that she never works with the party structure. You can create your own structure outside the party’s own. Everybody, even the president of this country, has a Ward where he comes from and whenever they call for a meeting and he’s not able to attend, somehow he would send a message across,” he added.

He further said, “But in our own case here, the only Senator we have that is our leader here in FCT is not attending meetings. She doesn’t even liaise with the state chairmen.”

These allegations come amid a legal dispute between the FCT chapter of the ADC and Kingibe. The chapter had previously approached the Federal High Court seeking an order to prevent her from presenting herself as a party member.

Senator Kingibe, who represents the FCT in the Senate, has not publicly responded to the claims.
