Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has officially parted ways with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), making a high-profile switch to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in a move that signals a significant shift ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made on Saturday at the Government House in Bauchi, where the governor appeared alongside APM National Chairman Yusuf Dantalle, top government officials, and key political stakeholders. Several loyalists, particularly those aligned with the Tanimu Turaki-led faction, also joined him in the defection.

Mohammed described the decision as deliberate and well-calculated, noting that it came after wide-ranging consultations with political allies and influential figures across the state.

After extensive consultation, we have taken a firm and strategic decision to join the Allied Peoples Movement.

He stated that the move is aimed at strengthening his political footing ahead of 2027 while creating a solid platform for his supporters.

This is guided by one overriding objective: to secure victory in both states and continue to serve our people with utmost integrity, effectively mobilise our supporters and present a coherent and credible alternative to the people.
