The Nigeria Police leadership has raised concerns over the increasing activities of Point of Sale (POS) operators around police formations across the country, describing the trend as troubling and potentially risky to security operations.
In a statement attributed to the police leadership and linked to Commissioner of Police Tunji Disu, authorities noted that the heavy concentration of POS businesses within and around police premises has become a growing concern.
“INGENPOL has observed with utmost dismay the alarming rate at which Point of Sale (POS) operators are increasingly conducting transactions in/around the vicinity of police formations.”
The police warned that the situation could open the door to unethical practices and compromise financial transparency within sensitive security environments.
According to the leadership, the development poses both operational and ethical challenges, as informal financial transactions around police facilities may undermine accountability and proper conduct.
The directive signals a stronger clampdown on unregulated commercial activity within and around police formations nationwide.
