Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has denied reports suggesting he has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC), following rumours that he was sidelined for the party’s 2027 governorship ticket.
Speculation had circulated on Wednesday claiming the governor had dumped the APC for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) after alleged disagreements over his second-term ambition.
But addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, Fubara described the claims as false and urged the public to ignore misinformation spreading on social media.
He stressed that his political status remains unchanged, insisting he is still a committed member of the APC.
He said: “I know that there have been a lot of drama on the social media; one story and another. I’m a member of APC. Nothing has changed.
“People should stop using whatever situation they got from social media or their own interpretation of any situation to present me wrongly.
“I have not gone anywhere. I’m still a member of APC and remain a member. Whatever happens, what is most important is supporting the overall interest of the party.”
