Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is expected to officially signal his interest in the 2027 presidential race at a major political gathering scheduled to hold at Mapo Hall in Ibadan on Thursday.

The rally, themed “Unity Mega Rally Ibadan 2026,” is also expected to mark the unveiling of a new alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party and the Allied Peoples Movement in Oyo State.

Sources familiar with the event said Makinde may use the occasion to formally announce his presidential ambition while also presenting several candidates contesting under the APM platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

The development comes amid recent defections of political appointees and aspirants from the PDP to the APM in the state.

Among those expected to emerge on the APM platform are former Oyo State Commissioner for Finance, Bimbo Adekanmbi, who is tipped for the governorship ticket, alongside Stanley Olajide, Olufemi Ajadi and Shina Peller for senatorial positions.

Candidates for the House of Representatives and the Oyo State House of Assembly are also expected to be introduced during the rally.
