A Nigerian traveller has recounted how he was denied entry into Mauritius upon arrival, despite travelling with confirmed vacation plans, bookings, and required documentation.

He said he had set out for a holiday on the island nation with hotel reservations, tour arrangements, health clearance, and sufficient funds for entry, claiming he met all stated requirements.

According to him, the situation took a disappointing turn when he and other travellers were subjected to questioning before being refused entry and sent back.

He expressed frustration over the experience, linking it to what he described as unfair treatment of Nigerians at some international borders.

He said:

“Mauritius declined our visa after we arrived. Everybody is chasing Nigerians out of their country. I only came for vacation to relax, and this is how it turned out. They rejected us and sent us back.
See what the government has caused us. We were separated for questioning and treated like thieves and ex-convicts.

There is visa on arrival. I already booked my hotel, a 5-star hotel, tour reserve centre, three different places. I have my yellow card, I have everything, even the requested cash of 1.5 dollars, I have it.

I have everything, yet they still deported us just because we’re Nigerians. If you’re a Nigerian, you’re finished…”
