Portable has responded after British rapper Skepta criticised President Bola Tinubu on X over rising insecurity in Nigeria and called on Nigerian celebrities to speak out.
In a video making the rounds, Portable questioned the call for public figures in Nigeria to openly comment on the situation, warning that it could attract consequences.
“Skepta said Nigerian celebrities should speak up. Does he want them to pick us? They will arrest us if we speak our minds. Nigerians abroad should speak up because they can’t arrest them from there,” he said.
Skepta’s initial post had urged entertainers to use their platforms to address insecurity and demand better governance from the government.
The reaction has since sparked mixed opinions online, with debate continuing over whether celebrities inside Nigeria should speak freely or exercise caution when discussing sensitive national issues involving the administration of Bola Tinubu.
