Nigerian singer Portable has reacted angrily after being invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations linked to spraying naira notes at a family celebration.
In a video circulating on social media, the artiste insisted he was being unfairly targeted for simply spending his own money during a public celebration.
He warned that any harm coming to him would trigger public unrest, saying:
“If anything happens to me, there will be protest. I no join bandit but because say i spend money una dey invite me.”
Portable also questioned the basis of the EFCC’s action, claiming other wealthy entertainers are not being treated the same way.
“Cubana Chief Priest dey spend money but dey Wan arrest me. Tinubu come to my help ooo… Na only music i dey use earn my money”
According to him, the incident that led to the invitation happened during his child’s naming ceremony, where he openly displayed cash.
“Cause say I pack money for hand for my child naming ceremony, una come dey invite me, for what?”
The reaction adds to growing public debate around enforcement of laws against naira abuse at social events, especially involving celebrities.
