Governor Seyi Makinde has assured residents that efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the students and teachers abducted in Oyo State, saying security agencies are working tirelessly to bring them home safely.

According to the governor, authorities have been careful in handling the rescue mission due to the difficult terrain where the victims are believed to be held.

Makinde disclosed that intelligence reports suggest the abducted individuals remain within the broader Old Oyo National Park corridor, an area known for its vast forest cover and challenging landscape.

He explained that the nature and size of the location have made rescue operations more complex, requiring strategic coordination among security agencies and patience from the public.

The governor also addressed the families of those still in captivity, assuring them that the state government remains committed to securing the victims’ freedom.

“We are doing everything within our power to bring the teachers and students home safely. We cannot share the details of what we are doing. One thing I can say is that our security reports indicate that they remain within the wider Old Oyo National Park axis. The size and terrain of the area require patience, coordination and persistence.

“To the parents, relatives, friends and colleagues of those still in captivity: I know that no statement can ease your pain but please know that your loved ones have not been forgotten,” he said.

The governor reiterated that rescue efforts remain active and pledged that the government would continue working with security agencies until the abducted students and teachers are safely reunited with their families.
