Liverpool have moved swiftly to secure the signing of Victor Munoz after activating the Osasuna winger’s release clause, beating Newcastle United to the highly-rated Spaniard.
Newcastle had been in discussions to sign the 22-year-old, but Liverpool stepped in and completed a deal that will see Munoz join the Premier League champions for a reported fee of £34.6 million.
Munoz is currently away with Spain at the FIFA World Cup and is expected to undergo his medical in the United States before officially completing the move.
The transfer echoes last summer’s battle between Liverpool and Newcastle, when the Merseyside club beat the Magpies to the signing of Hugo Ekitike before also landing star striker Alexander Isak.
Munoz began his football journey at Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, joining at the age of 11. He later switched to Real Madrid’s youth setup in 2023 as his reputation continued to grow.
His senior breakthrough came in May 2025 when current Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso handed him his LaLiga debut, bringing him on as a substitute for Vinicius Junior during a clash against Barcelona.
That same summer, Munoz signed a five-year contract with Osasuna and quickly established himself as a key player. He featured in 34 league matches last season, scoring six goals and registering two assists.
Liverpool are now set to add another exciting young talent to their squad as they continue strengthening their options ahead of the new campaign.
