Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has encouraged Nigerians to explore small-scale businesses such as selling akara, roasted corn and kuli kuli, describing them as affordable ventures that can help people earn a living.

In a video circulating on social media, the First Lady said many of these businesses require only a modest amount of capital to get started. She stressed that the government has been making efforts to improve citizens’ welfare by providing financial support in the form of grants rather than loans.

“We are trying to give hope. To start akara business does not take a lot of money. To start roasting corn and kuli kuli does not take much. We did not give them a loan, we gave them a grant. We have encouraged Nigerians as best as we could.”

Oluremi Tinubu added that, despite limited resources, the government has continued to assist Nigerians through different intervention programmes. She also highlighted her personal contributions to initiatives focused on healthcare, agriculture, education and social investment.

“What is within our hands, I have given and I keep giving. Those are the things we have done.”
